The Nairobi Arboretum is a forest that is located on Arboretum Road, off State House Road, a few kilometers from the city center. Mr. Batiscombe, the then Deputy Conservator of Forests, established the 30-hectare forest paradise in the year 1907 with the purpose of introducing foreign trees to Kenya. The forest has a stunning collection of trees, ranging from indigenous to exotic, each with their own rich history. The diverse vegetation is also home to 100 species of birds, a population of sykes and monkeys, many butterflies and other small animals. As at 2022, the entrance fee is KES 70 for adults and KES 35 for children.
The arboretum is organized in such a way that it has beautiful paths for walking and jogging, well-manicured grass for picnics, and promenades for viewing trees. The arboretum is a place of peace and tranquility, away from the hustle and bustle of Nairobi city life. It is the ideal place for couples where they can have their romantic walks and spend time alone.
How to get there
The Nairobi Arboretum is located on Arboretum Road off State House Road, very near the city. One can reach there by walking, but it is advisable to get a taxi, as it is more convenient and a safer way to travel within the city.
