Named after the property’s owner, Karen Blixen, this museum was set up in 1985 on the Blixen’s coffee plantation, which is at the foot of the Ngong Hills. The 1985 movie “Out of Africa” was based on a book of the same name, which was authored by Karen Blixen. The colonial farmhouse retains its original look, including furniture, utensils, photographs, paintings, etc. The museum’s walls are adorned by oil paintings, which were painted by Karen Blixen herself.
